Saffron is a perennial plant by scientific name “Crocus Sativus L.” from the family of Iridaceae. The length of plant is about 10-30cm, stemless with spheral bulb 3-5cm in diameter along with aromatic leaves. The plant has three same purple sepals and three petals along with three stamens. Saffron plant has 5-11 leaves which grow concurrent with blooming process or later. The leaves are green in color and 3-5cm in width. The commercial and edible part of plant is called stigma or saffron which is red in color.
